Bob Proctor on Accountability

"Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to results."

- Bob Proctor

Personal Accountability

If you can't hold yourself accountable then it won't matter what motivation you have in the morning, you don't have the discipline to do what matters.

Personal accountability requires several key traits: mindfulness, acceptance, honesty, and courage.

  • Mindfulness means being aware of your actions and the impact they have on yourself and others.

  • Acceptance means taking ownership of your mistakes and learning from them, rather than making excuses or blaming others.

  • Honesty means being truthful with yourself and others, even when it's difficult.

  • Courage means facing your fears and taking action even when it's uncomfortable or challenging.

Without these traits, it can be difficult to hold yourself accountable for your actions and take responsibility for your goals and dreams. No matter how motivated you feel in the morning, without discipline and accountability, you may struggle to achieve the results you want.

Always remember to hold yourself accountable and take responsibility for your actions, even when it's hard.

6 Steps to Building Accountability

  1. Envision the standard

Know what you want, believe in it, and make it a priority. Be clear and specific about what you want and why you want it.

You need have a vision and direction of what you're working towards.

  2. Set the standard

Set clear expectations for yourself and others and write it down.

    What does success look like?

    What are the rules?

When you have a clear standard, you have a roadmap to follow, and it makes accountability much easier.

  3. Demonstrate the standard

Lead by example. Show the world what accountability looks like. If you want others to follow your lead, you have to do it yourself. Live and breathe the standard you've established.

  4. Adopt the standard

Get on board with accountability. Make it a part of your daily routine, your mindset, your way of life. Communicate when people aren’t adopting the standard and remind them of the expectations.

  5. Accept the standard

Encourage others to embrace accountability. Share your success, inspire others, and create a culture of responsibility. Good cultures are where the leader enforces the standard. Great cultures are where everyone enforces the standard.

  6. Adhere to the standard

Hold yourself and others accountable. When the standard is not met, take action. Celebrate success and make adjustments.

Your culture is a living, breeding organism. Feed it, listen to it, and build it over time and you will be amazed what happens over a couple of years.
