Why Gratitude Can Change Your Day, Week, and…LIFE
Gratitude is your best weapon to deal with threats that take away your joy. It will:
Improve your mental health
Increase your resilience
Improve your self-esteem
Improve your sleep
Enhance your empathy
It makes life easier. It is a filter that helps clear out negative thoughts and emotions. You need that room to make way for positive ones.
When you are grateful, you realize that you received a gift out of nowhere. You cherish it. By saying gratitude statements, you shift your focus from the negative to the positive aspects of life.
It helps you cultivate a sense of appreciation for what you have today.
The only constant in life is that there will always be challenges. After moments of stress and turmoil, gratitude helps bring perspective and positivity to tough situations.
How to Start a Gratitude Practice
Every day, write 3 things you are grateful for
It has been proven that people who write 3 things that they are grateful for every day will live a happier, more satisfied life. There are always things to be grateful for and by taking a moment, it allows you to zoom out and see the big picture.
Give one compliment every day
By giving a compliment to others, you are showing appreciation and can get outside of your head. You are giving to others. And by doing so, you are making other people happy and grateful for something they provide to you.
Think of one compliment that someone has given you in your past
One of the best ways to boost your mood is to think back on compliments you have received. It gives your mind evidence that you have been successful and makes you grateful for the compliment to begin with.
Express gratitude before your meals
By starting your meal by saying thank you, you are taking a moment to be present. You can be thankful for the food you are eating or that you get to eat today. It also brings you closer with people that you might be eating with at that moment.
5. Start your day with a gratitude affirmation
I love to start my day off with energy & happiness. A morning gratitude affirmation makes you grateful that you get to wake up and start the day! There are many affirmations to manifest gratitude - choose one that works for you!
