Pat Summitt on Winning

"Winning is fun…sure. But winning is not the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point."

- Pat Summitt

Why a Growth Mindset is Important

A growth mindset is the belief that one's abilities and intelligence can be developed through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It has been shown to lead to greater achievement, higher levels of resilience, and more positive attitudes towards challenges and failures.

By bringing a growth mindset to yourself, you are redefining your very DNA. You are defining who you are, how you operate, and creating your standards for performance.

  • In a study of 373 college students, those with a growth mindset had higher GPAs than those with a fixed mindset, even after controlling for high school GPA and SAT scores (Dweck, 2008).

  • In a meta-analysis of 113 studies involving over 22,000 participants, having a growth mindset was associated with greater academic achievement, lower levels of anxiety and depression, and more positive social relationships (Sisk et al., 2018).

  • In a study of 12,000 9th graders, those who received training on growth mindset were more likely to enroll in advanced math courses, particularly among low-achieving students (Paunesku et al., 2015).

Adopting a growth mindset is not just about achieving success, it's about unlocking your full potential and discovering the limitless possibilities that await you.
