How Reflection Propels You Forward
Reflection is the fuel that helps you move from one place to another. It’s a powerful tool for personal growth and development.
Reflection allows you to take a step back from your daily routines and experiences and examine them from a different perspective. Through reflection, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your thoughts, and your actions.
By regularly reflecting on your experiences, you can improve your self-awareness, increase your emotional intelligence, and make more informed choices in your personal and professional life.
Reflection is asking the questions that cultivate self-awareness. Powerful reflection questions allow you to see your priorities and what truly matters. Without reflection, you aren't truly evaluating your progress. A key part of reflection is what you ask yourself.
2 Simple Questions for Self-Reflection
There are lots of great self-reflection questions that you can use, but my favorites are 2 simple ones:
What (or who) brings you energy?
What (or who) drains your energy?
Go through your life or your schedule and think about every activity and experience that you have had recently. Identify who and what falls into each category.
By considering the people, activities, and situations that give you energy, you can identify what motivates and inspires you in life. On the other hand, reflecting on what or who drains your energy can help you identify the sources of stress, frustration, or negativity in your life. You may realize that certain tasks or responsibilities, toxic relationships, or negative self-talk are taking a toll on your well-being.
By understanding these patterns, you can take steps to cultivate more positive, energizing experiences in your life and reduce the impact of draining ones.
